My favourite class is arcanist, but it's not really a good choice for a new player. Very investment heavy and takes quite a bit of practice to pilot it. After you finish tutorial once, all the classes you create next, you can skip tutorial and start at level 10 straight. On top of that, when you skip tutorial, you get into a zone where you test a class with a lot of skills unlocked. The 60% shield from transformation (and the 50% shield from fiery escape) is VERY nice everywhere there is chip damage or dots. The general squishyness of the class makes him binary tho: you are either full life and shielded or dead.
